I am pleased to announce the birth of The Forgotten Dream Project. In collaboration with A Place Called Home, a non-profit in South Central Los Angeles that serves children and families in the surrounding communities, The Forgotten Dream Project provides micro grants to low income women 18 and over for the pursuit of a dream that could give their lives an otherwise inaccessible new start.
The Forgotten Dream Project Mission Statement
In collaboration with A Place Called Home, The Forgotten Dream Project seeks to address the needs of low income women in the South Central area of Los Angeles.
Through The Forgotten Dream Project, founder Lisbeth Scott provides micro grants to women who are ready to take the first step towards fulfilling a long forgotten dream, providing hope when perhaps all seems lost.
We seek to uplift one person's life at a time, which in turn will uplift the energy and lives of those around them.
We seek to encourage women to discover the extraordinary gifts and strengths they possess no matter how much of their life has been lived without that knowledge.
We seek to inspire women in the midst of struggle to keep believing in themselves and the possibilities of life
We build awareness that women can empower other women to create a better life.
Each woman's story and struggle is unique. Perhaps the micro grants (which run between $500 and $2000) will be used to take a class or contribute towards a car to reach an internship or pay a baby sitter for several hours, giving the recipient time to attend a class or complete a training process.
Our board of directors consists of 20 professional women from all walks of life, corporate, fine arts, classical music, film, theater and more. Together we review the applications and decide upon grant recipients.
