Hope Is a Thing is now transformed! We give small grants, twice a year, to women and girls in financial need who want to lift up their own lives and the lives of those around them. The grants are from $500 to $2000 and can be used to take courses, purchase equipment or study privately with a mentor, among other things.

The process is simple. Create a photo with a sign that states what your hope is and how much grant money you would ideally want to achieve it. If you don't have access to a camera, just make a drawing instead. it's not about the art, it's about what you tell us!

In your email or your package, make sure to include your contact information and a brief paragraph about you, (age, where you live, who is in your family, what you would do with the grant money, how much you are asking for..and anything else you feel is relevant.)

All applications for the first grant are due no later than May 1st. The award will be announced on June 1st.

For the second grant of the year, all applications are due on November 1st and will be awarded December 1st.

We may request a personal interview if you are a finalist, either by phone if you are too far away, or in person. After this last step, we will notify you if you have been selected to receive a grant!

So if you know a woman or girl who wants to study acting or writing or poetry or design or anything at all... please pass the word. We'd love to help. You could also share this with high school classes or church groups or boys and girls organizations.
